Key Safety Precautions for Operating Industrial Atmospheric Hot Water Boilers

Time: 2026-09-10 Click: 5 seen

When using atmospheric hot water boilers, because the boiler remains in a non-pressurized state at all times and its top is directly connected to the atmosphere, these boilers offer the advantages of safety and a low risk of explosion. However, certain operational precautions must still be observed during the operation of atmospheric hot water boilers.

Key Safety Precautions for Operating Industrial Atmospheric Hot Water Boilers (1).webp

Key Precautions:

1. Ensure Unobstructed Ventilation

The vent pipe or air vent connected to the atmosphere must remain unobstructed. Do not install valves on the vent pipe to prevent the hot water boiler from becoming pressurized, which could lead to an explosion.

2. Water Refilling and Monitoring Water Level Changes

When using the hot water boiler for the first time or refilling it, fill the boiler slowly while closely monitoring the water level. Stop adding water once the normal water level is reached.

3. Pre-Operation Checks

Before operation, open the boiler’s inlet and outlet valves to ensure the water circulation system runs smoothly, and check that the automatic shut-off valves are responsive.

Regularly open the vent valve to release accumulated gas from the system.

Periodically inspect all safety devices to ensure operational safety.

4. Shutting Down the Boiler

When shutting down an atmospheric hot water boiler, first stop the burner, keep the circulation pump running to cool the system, then cut off the fuel supply and ventilate the system. Failure to do so may result in water hammer.

To ensure safer operation of the hot water boiler, pay close attention to every detail to maintain its long-term reliability.
